YOTTAA Publishes 2023 eCommerce Technology Index

WALTHAM, Mass.–(BUSINESS PHONE–YOTTAA, Inc., a leading cloud platform for e-commerce development, today announced the publication of the company’s latest annual report on the performance of third-party technologies used on eCommerce sites. . the”2023 eCommerce Technology Index” is designed to help businesses explore new technologies for their sites and understand the impact third parties can have on overall site performance.

Brands and retailers are adding more technology to their eCommerce stack in pursuit of conversion, traffic, and operational gains. In the past year alone, the number of third-party technologies installed on eCommerce sites has increased by 19% with traditional sites adding seven eCommerce technologies. But, despite the creative gains these technologies promise, many retailers struggle to realize their impact on site speed, online experience, and conversions.

The 2023 eCommerce Technology Index examines the site performance of 619 of the three accepted eCommerce platforms. The data in this report was collected over a period of one month (December 2022) representing 5.5 billion page views from approximately 2,000 ecommerce sites using YOTTAA’s eCommerce optimization solutions. As part of its platform, YOTTAA’s third-party Knowledge Base is a comprehensive third-party database that grows with each page view, adding hundreds of millions of real shopper data every day.

Through this knowledge base, YOTTAA has deep insight into site performance data from all third parties used by its customers. The YOTTAA platform also detects violations of the site functions of any third parties. These deviations are used to create a Performance Impact Rating (PIR). Using these PIRs, YOTTAA assigns a color code of red, yellow, and green to each third party evaluated in the index in the most frequently accepted eCommerce technologies. Third party charging is labeled red, neutral is yellow, and fast charging technology is green.

Below are some key findings from the 2023 eCommerce Technology Index:

  • 17% are in Red – Of the 619 third-party eCommerce technologies evaluated in the benchmark, 17% received a “drag” rating meaning their presence on an eCommerce site has a negative impact on the site’s performance.
  • Technology Keys are not intuitive – The impact of site performance varies by technology type and the types with the most red ratings in the index are those that are important to design, such as user-generated content, chat, and business research. As a result, vendors should expect heavier site performance impacts from these categories.
  • Some Important Website Elements Are Hard to Meet – The highest Content Payout is the most important Website Marketing Metric that concerns eCommerce brands. The technical areas that make it more difficult for brands to meet this Google mark are image coverage, CMS, and brand management.
  • Optimization = High Quality & High Quality Pages – To realize the full potential of third-party technologies, each must be optimized to limit the negative impact on the performance of the site. For example, research shows that shaving 1 second off page load time by optimizing 3rd parties and other digital site content decrease by 9% and increase conversions by 6%.

“As brands continue to rely on the benefits and return on investment from third-party technologies, they must also appreciate and measure the costs of engagement, including their impact on site performance. ,” said Rich Stendardo, CEO of YOTTAA. The 2023 eCommerce Technology Index provides models with detailed performance information for other companies on their websites so that they can measure the overall impact of their technology on their business.
