A jazzman’s blues special screening

Following its TIFF debut, Tyler Perry, Milauna Jackson and Brad Benedict brought their film to Los Angeles on September 16 for a special screening at the Tudum Theater.

Amsterdam premiere

Writer-director David O. Russell and stars Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, John David Washington, Andrea Riseborough, Mike Myers, Michael Shannon, Rami Malek, Timothy Olyphant and Robert De Niro, with producers Matthew Budman and Anthony Katagas and executive producers Drake and Adel “Future” Nur celebrated the world premiere of Amsterdam on Sunday at Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center. NRDC Night of Comedy

The Natural Resources Defense Council hosted its annual New York fundraising comedy event “Night of Comedy” Tuesday at Casa Cipriani New York. The evening paid tribute to the Honorary Curator of NRDC and the founder of Night of Comedy. Anna Scott Carter and was hosted by Seth Meyers with appearances by Mike Birbiglia, Michael Che, Chloe Fineman, Nick Kroll and Hasan Minhaj. Scott Carter and Graydon Carter were joined as national co-chairs by David Zaslav and Jim and Penny Coulter.

Sydney premiere

Apple celebrated the LA premiere of the documentary Sydney at the Academy Museum on Wednesday along with producer Oprah, director Reginald Hudlin and Poitier’s daughters Beverly Poitier-Henderson, Anika Poitier, Pamela Poitier, Sherri Poitier and Sydney Poitier. Other attendees included Cher, Sheryl Lee Ralph, David Oyelowo, Loretta Devine, Colman Domingo and Dennis Haysbert.

Pioneer Dinner 2022

The Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers Foundation (WRMPPF) honored producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli as Pioneers of the Year 2022. Wilson and Broccoli presented the award to Daniel Craig and Michelle Yeoh on Wednesday at the MGM/United Artists Releasing and Foundation of the Year Dinner presented by Amazon Studios at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.

Cool Comedy Hot Cuisine from the Scleroderma Research Foundation

In a night honoring Bob Saget, longtime friends John Mayer, Dave Chappelle, Jimmy Kimmel and Jeff Ross performed a star-studded evening of comedy and music Wednesday to benefit the Scleroderma Research Foundation, which Saget previously led for 30 years.

BlueCheck Ukraine fundraiser

Liev Schreiber’s humanitarian relief initiative BlueCheck Ukraine held a fundraiser Saturday at UTA Artist Space in Beverly Hills, raising more than $250,000. The Ukraine: Solidarity to Action event was hosted by UTA and INVNT GROUP and the funds will directly support local Ukrainian NGOs and grassroots organizations providing humanitarian assistance on the ground to civilians severely affected by the war in Russia.

60th APA anniversary

The agency toasted the anniversary with an office cocktail and had more reasons to toast than just the milestone. APA has moved to new headquarters (10865 Santa Monica Blvd.), a three-story building that previously housed Warner Chappell. Foreground Center CEO Jim Gosnell and President Jim Osborne addressed more than 250 employees during the event, some of whom had flown in from offices in New York, Nashville, Toronto, Atlanta and London. Osborne took a minute to greet veteran agents who have been with the agency for more than 25 years, including Gosnell. He then addressed the crowd by calling out the 12 senior agents whom ICM Partners APA welcomed to the group, while also praising the next generation of young agents by dedicating the party to them. Gosnell reported that the theme of the bash was “60 Years Young,” which caused a roar from the workforce.

Grameen America’s “Raising Latina Voices”

Jennifer Lopez attended Grameen America’s “Raising Latina Voices” event Saturday to kick off Hispanic Heritage Month and celebrate her partnership between Limitless Labs and Grameen America. Lopez, along with Grameen America President and CEO Andrea Jung, addressed an audience of over 400 Latin American entrepreneurs.

Renée Fleming’s Singing Cities: Paris premiere

Netflix hosted a special screening for the documentary, which follows the US men’s basketball team’s quest for gold at the 2008 Olympics, Thursday at Netflix’s Tudum Theater in Hollywood. EP’s Dwyane Wade and Frank Marshall were in attendance, along with director Jon Weinbach, Dwight Howard and Gabrielle Union.

On Thursday, the Black Music Action Coalition hosted its second annual Music in Action Awards Gala at the Beverly Hilton to honor artists, leaders, corporations, entrepreneurs, activists and corporations who have used their platforms to bring about social change over the past year. The evening, hosted by Coco Jones and Kenny Burns, honored Lil Baby, Congressman Maxine Waters, Jon “Big Jon” Platt, Kevin Liles, Amazon Music and The Recording Academy.

World of Wonders House of Love x extraordinary family event

Fenton Bailey, Randy Barbato, Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman, Tom Campbell, RuPaul Charles, Ronan Farrow, Carson Kressley, Alec Mapa, Ross Mathews and Michelle Visage co-hosted World of Wonder’s House of Love x ExtraOrdinary Families event on Thursday in Los Angeles. The event, which benefited LA’s premier foster care and adoption agency for LGBTQ+ parents and children, included a silent auction, red carpet photos and drag queens galore.
