Refract: The Seattle Glass Experience Begins October 13

The 2022 festival brings together stars from the Netflix hit show Blown Away; Along with 70 participating glass artists in the greater Seattle area offering exclusive tours and events


What Created by Visit Seattle in collaboration with Chihuly Garden and Glass, 4thth The annual Refract: The Seattle Glass Experience is the premier glass festival spanning four days at dozens of locations throughout the Seattle area. Bigger and better than ever for 2022, Refract will feature more than 50 organizations and 70 participating artists. During Refract, glass art enthusiasts and newcomer artist parties will enjoy exclusive tours of open studios, special gallery exhibitions, hands-on experiences and intimate glassblowing demonstrations not offered at any other time.

When The festival takes place on Thursday 13 Octoberth through Sunday 16 Octoberth. Four days of exciting events and programs begin with Gather, the official opening party at the Chihuly Garden and Glass on Thursday 13th Octoberth from 18:30-21:00.

Where Various museums, galleries, studios and spaces in the greater Seattle area will host events, many of which are free and open to the public. Participating organizations include Chihuly Garden and Glass, Pike Place Market Glass Artist Showcase, Glass Art Society, Museum of Glass, Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, Lino Taglipietra Studio, Traver Gallery, Pilchuck Glass School, Avalon Glassworks, Glass Eye Studio, Seattle Glassblowing Studio , Radiant Neon, Stonington Gallery, Gallery Mack, Pratt Fine Arts Center, Blowing Sands Glass Studio, Friends in Glass, Vetri and many more.

who Top Seattle glass artists take part in the annual Refract festival and this year’s lineup includes the newest contributors to hit Netflix show Blown Away: Dan Friday, Rob Stern, Minhi England and John Sharvin. All four artists will offer live glassblowing demonstrations and glass art exhibitions throughout the event weekend, including demonstrations at The Glass Eye on Friday; and demos at Seattle Glassblowing Studios on Friday and Saturday.
