‘Holiday Spectacular’ Friday at the Shoppes
The Shoppes at Carlsbad is hosting a free “Holiday Special” all day from 11 am to 6 pm Friday. The day will include live music and concerts from local schools, and arts and crafts. Elves will be making balloon animals and painting faces all day. Santa’s Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman will appear from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm From noon to 6:00 pm, Mrs. Claus will read four wonderful stories. Founder Sammy opened a new restaurant
Toasted Gastrobrunch + Dinner has opened at 339 N. Cleveland St., from Sami Ladeki, creator of Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza and Toast Gastrobrunch. This new location is close to the pedestrian street on the beach and takes the place of Carte Blanche Bistro Bar. Toasted has expanded to include a full dinner menu but will keep brunch favorites from Toast Gastrobrunch (formerly in Carlsbad) like brisket hash and stuffed French toast. Dinner will include favorites from Sammy’s menus as well as new dishes. Hours will be 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, with brunch served from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Happy hour is 3 to 6 p.m. with half-baked items, and dinner from 6 to 9 p.m. Military personnel earn 20 percent. Pho Truch Xanh has opened at 770 Sycamore Ave., serving Vietnamese and Chinese cuisine. The restaurant was previously located at Center City Parkway and Mission Avenue in Escondido.
