Mystery for Hire returns with a performance of “Mystery of the Lost Treasure,” a new original pirate mystery screenplay by actor and playwright Greg Simpson of Minot, on Friday, October 7 at 6 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Riverwatch in Auburn
The cast for Mystery of the Lost Ark includes Greg Simpson, Kathleen Nation, Nick Dufault, Dan Marois, CarlaRose Dubois and Sara Poulin, who makes her debut in Mystery for Hire.
“This show has an outrageous selection of pirates to entertain our guests,” said Dan Marois, who has run Mystery for Hire with his wife Denise for 27 years. “Viewers become members of competing pirate ships, all aiming to find buried treasure and outperform the other crews. Guests are encouraged to wear their best pirate outfits with prizes for the best costume of the night.”
Marois says it’s a bit of a homecoming to be doing a public mystery show again at the Hilton Garden Riverview, just a short walk from where mystery shows in the area began.
“The first mystery show in the area was down the street at No Tomatoes about 30 years ago,” Marois said. “We’ve performed to sold-out crowds at the Hilton Garden Riverwatch many times.”
“If you like interactive fun or just sit back and watch the action, the show is a treat,” said Marois. “It also appeals to people who like to eat out, party a little, and enjoy the theater.” A mystery show is also a great opportunity for a group to gather. “Friends, family and colleagues often come to our events to celebrate a special occasion,” adds Marois. “Our public shows offer guests the opportunity to enjoy an evening of entertainment and dining in one experience.”
Mystery for Hire is Maine’s longest-running professional mystery dinner theater company, having performed nearly 1,000 mystery shows. While they perform throughout New England, most of the shows have been presented in Maine.
Tickets cost $65 per person and include a buffet dinner with a plate salad upon arrival, multiple entrees, sides, and desserts, and a drinks menu good for beer, wine, or one soft drink, plus taxes and gratuity.
