Laredo celebrates 16 de Septiembre at Frontera Beer & Wine Garden

On Friday night, a fiesta honoring September 16 – Mexico’s Independence Day – was held at the Frontera Beer & Wine Garden, where locals enjoyed festive dances, mariachis and more.

Gabriela Mendoza-García Ballet Folklórico performed a variety of traditional dances, with their many dancers at the event. Gabriela Mendoza-García, director of the dance group, spoke about the origins of the dances performed by her students.

The outdoor garden was packed with families who gathered to enjoy the event.

Family-friendly events also included a grito contest honoring the grito that marked the start of the Mexican War of Independence. A market with local vendors, music, food trucks and various activities for families was also on site.

The beer and wine garden has partnered with the Laredo Cultural District and dance group for the event.
