There is now an Elden Ring mod that makes adventure in action RPG scarier and deadlier.
Thanks to its plethora of powerful enemies eager to rip your tarnished limbs out of the limbs, the Lands Between isn’t the coziest of places at the best of times. But gamers looking for an even more unnerving experience will be happy to know that there’s a new mod that essentially turns the fantasy RPG into a Silent Hill-esque horror game.
It comes courtesy of Twitch Steamer and speedrunner LilAggy (opens in new tab)who has teamed up with Elden Ring Modder Matt green (opens in new tab). “Ok this is the coolest thing ever,” LilAggy tweeted alongside a short video of Elden Ring, but not in the way we’re used to. The footage shows a Tainted shrouded in thick fog, barely able to see a foot in front of him, when suddenly a fearsome, fire-breathing enemy appears out of nowhere.
OK, THIS IS THE COOLEST THING EVER. I turned Elden Ring into a HORROR GAME by adding the Hallowed Snowfield blizzard effect EVERYWHERE, turning off the HUD, and randomizing the enemies so you never know what’s coming. com/selIcAIHUiSeptember 19, 2022
If you’re wondering how the modder managed to turn Elden Ring into a full-on spooky festival, then LilAggy has the answer. He explains that the violent storm that raged through the country was achieved “by adding the blizzard effect of Consecrated Snowfield.” Additionally, enemies are randomized “so you never know what’s coming,” which if you’ve played Elden Ring you’ll know this is a truly terrifying prospect. To further confuse the player, the HUD has been turned off.
The mod isn’t available for download yet, but LilAggy has promised to share it as soon as it’s released. So it’s worth keeping an eye on his Twitter account if you’re interested in trying it out for yourself. There are now around six hours of footage on Twitch (opens in new tab) of him playing Elden Ring with the mod, or should that be Elden Hill?
LilAggy is known to fans of the Souls series as he has set several world records for his speedy completion of FromSoftware games. For example, in March he managed to cross the finish line of the Elden Ring in less than an hour. And speed isn’t his only skill; He also managed to defeat every boss in Dark Souls using only poop balls.
