A look back at the fall sports season at Dulaney High School – Baltimore Sun

With the sports season just coming to an end, the past few weeks have been full of tournaments, all-star games and awards.

Elite athletes have been working hard over the past four years – putting in almost no time or playing catch-up during the pandemic – and now they enjoying their last seasons.

Several teams at Dulaney High School enjoyed very successful seasons in field hockey, men’s soccer, volleyball, and both the men’s and women’s cross country teams – all winning regional championships and represented well in state competitions.

Excellent Ty Dailey captured the 4A state title with an outstanding cross country run at the tree with a time of 16:25. Elders were with him, Nikhil Manickam, Connor McGeehan and Nikhil Khoslaand with other teammates placed fifth in the state.

The women’s cross country team also finished strong at the state level, placing fourth with seniors Cassie Weymouth, Jacqueline Sibilia and Mary Melito all contribute to the team.

The Dulaney men’s soccer team had an exciting regular season, including a seven-game winning streak, and won its 13th regional title in a 2-1 double overtime victory against Catonsville. The trio of senior captains a James North, Joe Pichney and Justin Samuel represent the Lions at the Baltimore County Senior Exhibition games on November 22.

The Dulaney women’s soccer team was represented by Maddy Adams, Natalie Crowley, Knaba Badger, Sidney Scherer and A wise wolf in their Senior Showcase game.

As a perennial powerhouse, the field hockey team put together an outstanding regular season, defeating Hereford in a shootout 2-1 to take the county championship. They followed it up by winning the regional championship and making a trip to the final four at the state level. Addie Erdman, Alex Erdman and Winner Ava They were the producers of the Baltimore County Premier Hockey Showcase.

The Dulaney football team also had a strong season and earned their first playoff victory in over 30 years. Among the high standings are Ethan Dasch, Tristan Forby, Mehki Rice, Brendan Howard and Luca Van Eron. They represented Dulaney at various all-star games and showcased games around the area.

On November 18, the Dulaney Hall of Fame honored a new class of hall of famers at an induction ceremony and dinner. The Athletics Hall of Fame was established in 2003 to recognize athletes, coaches and individuals who have made significant contributions to the Dulaney athletics programs.

The new class appeared Isabella Griffith ’14, Dan Keppeler ’04, Jan Liszewski Howells ’91, Brandon Phillips ’10, Gavan Scanlan ’13, and Eric Walz ’16.

These athletes excelled in cross country, track and field, football, field hockey, wrestling and lacrosse while also participating in other sports while at Dulaney. Walz, a standout runner and state cross country champion, is now back at Dulaney as a coach working with the distance runners.

The 1976 men’s lacrosse team was also recognized as a Hall of Fame Team.
