Oktoberfest meets culture
A storied German tradition is taking over the Cultura beer garden when Oktoberfest meets Cultura this weekend. Similar to the German Fest, the local beer garden celebrates beer with a variety of special Oktoberfest beers on tap, ready to be consumed. It will also host a variety of events including a pitcher-holding contest, wiener dog races, a keg challenge, a street fair on Salinas Street, costume contests, live entertainment and more.

Legendary Mexican singer Pepe Aguilar will make his visit to Laredo a family event as he brings his brother Antonio Aguilar, Hijo; his talented Grammy daughter and twice Latin Grammy nominee Ángela Aguilar; and his son Leonardo Aguilar, a two-time Latin Grammy nominee as part of his “Jaripeo Sin Fronteras” tour.

Save on the Wonder Lounge benefit weekend
Laredo pub bar and venue Wonder Lounge is going through a rough patch and will be hosting two benefit concerts this weekend to keep the live music going. Both shows will not be covers, although donations are welcomed at the door for the events. The bar has made a name for itself in Laredo for hosting live acts and being a mecca for Laredo’s metal and punk lovers. Apollo 11, HoneyRot and Hanus will take the stage on Friday evening. Saturday gets a little heavier with metal groups Division Black Noise, Necro Vision and Guillotine Party on the setlist. Donations can also be made via the $wonderlounge cash app.

Cantinflas will return to the big screen this weekend at the Border Heritage Museum’s outdoor patio in downtown Laredo.

Laredoans will be at Average Joe’s “Livin’ on a Prayer” this weekend when Bon Jovi tribute act Dead or Alive swings into town. Also performing will be special guests Benastar – a tribute act to Pat Benatar – featuring the talents of local act Voodoo Vibe.

Autumn garden prelude

Opening concert of the faculty

LULAC scholarship dance
LULAC will be inviting two Tejano legends, David Marez and Roberto Pulido, to the Lake Casablanca Ballroom for a night of fun and fun for a good cause. Proceeds will be used to fund the annual scholarships that LULAC awards annually.

Local non-profit organization Smiles From Heaven is hosting its third annual Shave-A-Thon on Saturday. Participants are even encouraged to shave their heads to raise awareness for children battling childhood cancer.
